Artemis Rising - Supporting Victims of Sexual Assault

"I started Artemis Rising so that I could give a voice to the extraordinary stories that shed light on issues in our society that need to be changed, healed . . . transformed," Scully says. "Issues such as the devastating effects of childhood abuse; the epidemic of diabetes and obesity; the corrosive effects of our media on the self-esteem of girls and women, undermining their reach for positions of power, influence and leadership; the mistreatment and violence against women and girls around the world; and the epidemic rapes of our women (and men) in the U.S. military."
These are the words of Regina Kulik Scully, winner of this year's Women's eNews Ida B. Wells Award for Bravery in Journalism, specifically for her work on The Invisible War. This single film has done more to change the conversation about sexual assault and rape in the military than any series of congressional hearings has managed to do in the last few decades.

If you have yet to see the film and you live in or near San Francisco, I have some good news for you. Wednesday Night, October 16 from 6pm to 9pm, The Invisible War will be playing at the California College of the Arts and all money raised will be donated to Artemis Rising to specifically support the Invisible War Recovery Program. Tickets are available starting at $20 for Friends, $40 for Partners, $60 for Sponsors. The $100 for Soldiers are all sold out... this looks to be like a great fundraiser, an excellent opportunity to support a great cause, and a chance to mingle with some like minded folks.

Can't attend? Then you can help the movement grow in a couple of ways. You could always make a donation to notinvisible at rally.org. Or, more simply, visit that same Rally.org page and like it via Facebook.

Still not convinced... below the curly locks, you'll find links to dozens of reviews of the film. Feel free to share with friends. I only wish I could be in San Francisco tomorrow night and make plans to meet up with a few of you!
